WE ARE wood river fine arts

history

Located in the Sawtooth Mountain Range of South-Central Idaho, the Gallery is named for the Wood River Valley, home to the historic mining and sheep-herding town of Ketchum and to Sun Valley, America’s first destination ski resort founded by Averell Harriman in 1936. Our name pays homage to the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us in this “Magic Valley” below Bald Mountain: a mecca for world-class skiing and fly fishing, the place where Ernest Hemingway lived, wrote and died, a place known as an international resort community that has still been able to retain its character as a truly Western town — celebrated as such by locals and visitors alike.
