About Us

Located in the Sawtooth Mountain Range of South-Central Idaho, the Gallery is named for the Wood River Valley, home to the historic mining and sheep-herding town of Ketchum and to Sun Valley, America's first destination ski resort founded by Averell Harriman in 1936. Our name pays homage to the incredible natural beauty that surrounds us in this "Magic Valley" below Bald Mountain: a mecca for world-class skiing and fly fishing, the place where Ernest Hemingway lived, wrote and died, a place known as an international resort community that has still been able to retain its character as a truly Western town -- celebrated as such by locals and visitors alike.

The partners of Wood River Fine Arts, Dave and Molly McGary, and Tom Bassett and Sandy Gregorak, together bring over 80 years of experience in the art business. With their combined knowledge base, the partners serve as a valuable resource to art patrons in all aspects of building meaningful collections.

Dave McGary, an internationally acclaimed sculptor, has focused his oeuvre on the depiction of Native American and First Nations people. His projects include Chief Washakie, which was commissioned by the State of Wyoming for placement in the Senate Statuary Hall in the United States Capitol Building in Washington, DC. Dave also created Emergence of the Chief, a monumental work for Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec; The Founding Of Santa Fe for the US Federal Building in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Battle Of Two Hearts for the University of Wyoming.

Molly McGary's deep background in the art world began with a childhood infused with a breadth of multicultural experiences while living in Europe, South Africa and the American Southwest. Her life-long education in art eventually took her to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she joined a vibrant community of artists and art galleries. Ultimately Molly, with her husband Dave, founded Expressions Gallery in Scottsdale, which Molly has directed for over 17 years. Expressions Gallery in Scottsdale is the "sister" gallery to Wood River Fine Arts.

Tom Bassett has represented Dave McGary's work for over two decades. In addition to placing many life-size and smaller works in public and private collections during the course of their relationship, Tom has placed over 20 of Dave's monumental works across the United States and Canada. Tom's knowledge of the logistical aspects of site preparation and placement of monumental works has resulted in important and esthetically pleasing installations. Tom has also spent over 20 years representing award-winning painters of extraordinary range and talent. His experience with established artists and his ability to identify emerging artists enable Tom to find the right pieces for the ardent collectors he has long served as well as those new to the world of art and collecting.

Tom's wife Sandy Gregorak rounds out the team with a combined background in the arts and law. Born in the Rockies of British Columbia, Sandy's esthetic draws her to artists who capture the grandeur of the West, to places not often seen and to roads less traveled. Her forte is her ability to forge strong relationships with the artists she represents and the clients she serves. Combining her artistic sense with her legal and business acumen, Sandy takes pleasure in connecting clients with works they will enjoy for a lifetime.
